Troubleshooting Video Problems

Problems and Solutions

The following problems may occur when you view multimedia tutorials on your computer. This page lists solutions to each of these problems.

Video Software was not Installed

Before you can view the multimedia for this course, you must install a small piece of video software on your computer. This will take about two minutes, and only needs to be done once.

Instructions to install the video software

Multimedia Skins

If you are running a newer version of the Windows Media Player, the window may have a decorative interface. Unfortunately, this interface can prevent the video from displaying properly. The classic skin removes all embellishments and makes it easier to control the Windows Media Player. (See the procedure below.)

Classic Skin Display Procedure

Use the following steps to set the "skin" to classic.

  1. Open the Windows Media Player with Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Windows Media Player.
  2. Choose View/Taskbar/Skin Chooser from the menu bar, or click the Skin Chooser item on the left side of the Media Player window.
  3. Choose Classic from the skin list, then click the Apply Skin button at the top of the list.
  4. Choose View/Skin Mode from the menu bar.
The video player should now have a very basic window and should be able to adjust to display the video in actual (100%) size.
